On Sunday, we launched our new charity project for 2022. We will be raising money for Leukaemia & Myeloma Research UK in memory of Pat Eliman, who was a member of Holyhead Road United Reformed Church for many decades.
To kickstart the fundraising, we have a number of crafts and activities available to purchase. The first is a crossword designed by Pat. Each correct entry will be added to a prize draw. The second is a craft challenge. We are asking people to decorate a paper cutout of a person for us to use as fundraising markers on our noticeboard: for every £50 we raise, we’ll add a person! Each entry will also be entered into a prize drawer. We also have jam jars available for people to take and collect pennies for the project. Once the jars have been returned at the end of the year, we will use the jars as part of worship to reflect on the charity and our fundraising efforts.
The Girls’ Brigade has also volunteered to take part in a sponsored spell. They are looking for sponsorship for each word they get right in the spelling bee on 28th February 2022. Sue Adams has kickstarted this fundraising project by sponsoring each girl 10p per correct word.
If you’d like to get involved in any of these fundraising efforts, please drop us a message via our website or Facebook, which can be found here.
